Position: Director of Newsletter Growth

High Level Vision:

​​Drive exponential subscriber growth and engagement through strategic content creation, product innovation, and strategic and operational coordination with external and internal advertisers and sponsors within the Benzinga Newsletter product lineB2C and. Leverage existing relationships and forge new ones to maximize revenue potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the growth strategy for our newsletter platform, focusing on increasing subscriber numbers and engagement metrics.
  • Oversee content creation and delegation, ensuring that newsletters are compelling, relevant and aligned with the company's objectives.
  • Develop and execute product strategies to enhance the newsletter experience and drive subscriber retention.
  • Monitor and maintain list health, implementing best practices to optimize deliverability and minimize churn.
  • Coordinate operations and assets with B2C and advertising partners, leveraging existing relationships and establishing new ones to support growth initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with the ad team to identify opportunities for monetization and implement strategies to maximize advertising revenue.


Role Details:

  • Maintain list health, report performance to BZ's Advertising team
  • Copy edit (light touch, ensuring asset links are accurate, no major structural issues) 6 newsletters (total output per week: 23.25 issues).
  • Produce one newsletter: 1x week (included in the 23 figure above)
  • work entails aggregating a singular story from either a BZ story or a 3rd party media source + folding in an already written piece.
  • This newsletter is sent 5 times per month (the monthly iteration is simply copy pasting an email interview).
  • Content calendar management - timing sends for contract durations, coordinating with Subscription team on assets (either advertisement or Subscription feature)
  • Coordinate with Benzinga Ad Ops Specialist for placement optimization strategy and Advertising Account Managers to manage client relationships (ensure fulfillment via periodic client communication, blurb and logo creation as needed)
  • Manage direct send program (1x week max): Shepherd sponsored content client's announcement/message into a one off email (some editorial judgment, enhancement required - Client typically provides lion's share of assets)
  • Drive Sales Team advertiser pushes, provide strategy, improve performance metrics, sales support


Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of successfully growing newsletter audiences and driving engagement.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem solving skills, with the ability to develop and execute
  • effective growth strategies.
  • Experience in content creation and delegation, with a keen eye for quality and relevance.
  • Familiarity with product development and optimization, particularly in the context of digital media.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Existing relationships with advertising partners and a deep understanding of the digital advertising landscape are highly desirable.
